On October 31, 2024 the IAMAW Automotive Local 1857 members at Kal Tire Branch K669 in Burnaby were locked out.
During bargaining, Kal Tire came to the table hoping that the Fighting Machinists would make concessions. They were wrong. Kal Tire has proposed a two-tiered wage schedule at the seven locations where our members work. For those branches that were organised more recently, this would mean a significantly lower pay rate for the same work.
Our members do difficult, essential, hazardous work. They are fighting for fairness and they appreciate your support during this difficult time.
They are picketing in front of the Kal Tire at 5390 Grimmer Street in Burnaby, B.C., Monday to Saturday between 8:00 and 17:00.
